The collaboration between Bavaria, Farr Yacht Design and BMW DesignWorks USA has produced a beautifully engineered yacht with elegant lines and a host of innovative features. Acknowledged as the top racing yacht design team in the world, Farr’s long-running record of achievement dates back more than 25 years and includes 40 World Championships and a multitude of design successes at internationally prestigious grand prix yachting events.
One is immediately struck by how large and spacious the new yachts look and feel. The short overhangs, long waterline lengths and wide beams create much more interior, cockpit and deck space. Below decks the three choices of joinery; mahogany, oak or walnut, complement the spacious and ergonomic interiors while a host of standard factory features such as the stern-wide bathing platforms further distinguishes Bavaria from the competition.
Quality
At Bavaria, knowledge built up over more than three decades is combined with cutting edge production techniques. All Bavaria yachts are built to Ocean category "A" – the highest European standard CE certification as well as the even more exacting Germanischer Lloyd certification. This additional certification requires independent surveying at all stages of the yacht building process.
The new Bavaria Cruiser range has been built with safety and seaworthiness in mind. The new range has larger framing, glassed into the hull with generous glass tabbing. Bulkheads are similarly tabbed into the frames and deck-head making for a very stiff and strong yacht. The internal box construction around the stainless steel keel bolts is particularly noteworthy making the keel to hull marriage especially strong and transferring the moment of the keel through the hull in an extremely efficient and class-leading manner. The increased internal framing combined with the Cruiser range’s larger beams, topsides, keels and mast sections obviously generate extra displacement. Any detriment to performance that one might expect from the extra weight, has been offset by Farr optimising hull and appendage hydrodynamics and the moderate displacement increase affords superb sea-keeping qualities when offshore.
